| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hammered gold reverse displaying a four-line Arabic legend filling the entire field in bold, fluid Ottoman calligraphy. The inscription, arranged in stacked horizontal lines, proclaims the sultan as the striker of gold and the possessor of glory and victory over land and sea, a standard honorific formula employed on Ottoman sultani gold coinage of the period. The flan is slightly irregular at the rim, consistent with hammered manufacture, and the relief of the legends is well-struck with characteristic overlapping letter strokes. |
