| Obverse description | Countermark applied to the obverse of a French Colonies 'Cayenne' 2 Sous host coin. A prominent fleur-de-lis dominates the central field, deeply impressed and boldly rendered, flanked by the countermark letters 'SM' designating Sint Maarten. The surrounding field retains traces of the host coin's original legend 'LOUIS XVI D' visible along the upper periphery. The toothed border of the host coin remains partially visible at the rim. |
