| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by a heraldic shield bearing a rampant lion to the left, rendered in bold relief characteristic of late 13th-century Hainaut coinage. The lion is depicted with foliate tail and fore-claws raised, filling the shield in the mannered Gothic style typical of the period. A three-part Latin legend encircles the shield, separated by saltire crosses and groups of three small dots serving as punctuation marks.
