Obverse description Central shield quartered by a plain cross, each quarter bearing a rampant lion in high relief, rendered in the Gothic heraldic style characteristic of 14th-century Brabantine coinage. The lions display pronounced detailing in the mane and claws, consistent with hammered die workmanship. A circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the central device, reading the ducal title. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, typical of hand-struck medieval silver.
