| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device consisting of a heraldic shield bearing a crowned rampant lion passant to the left, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of mid-13th-century Low Countries hammered coinage. The shield occupies the majority of the field. A circular legend in Latin uncial lettering surrounds the central device, reading the lord's name and title. The overall striking is irregular, as typical of hand-struck medieval issues from the Lordship of Herstal. |
