Aanvullende informatie

Otto von Grandson held the bishopric from 1306 to 1309 in a tenure defined more by external political pressure than ecclesiastical administration — he was effectively installed through the influence of the Habsburgs as they tightened their grip on the upper Rhine territories. The stebler, a fractional denomination struck at extremely low silver weights, circulated as everyday petty coinage in Alsatian and Swiss markets where larger denominations were impractical.

Three years was barely enough time to establish a consistent coinage, and surviving examples from this episcopate are correspondingly scarce.
