Each quarter contains annulets and foliate sprays arranged to suggest anthropomorphic or zoomorphic hidden faces, a hallmark of late Iron Age Celtic coin artistry. The overall composition is highly stylised, derived ultimately from the classical wreath motif transmitted through Macedonian prototypes, yet thoroughly transformed into a distinctly Catuvellaunian idiom.
