| Obverse description | Bare head of the Roman Emperor Tiberius facing left, rendered in the provincial Hellenistic style typical of Bosporan coinage. The portrait displays characteristic curly hair arranged over the forehead and a slightly draped shoulder visible at the truncation. The abbreviation ΧΕΡ (for Chersonas) appears to the left of the bust in the field, identifying the issuing city. A dotted or beaded border frames the design on the irregular flan. The engraving reflects the hybrid Greco-Roman artistic tradition prevalent in the northern Black Sea region during the early Imperial period. |
