Obverse description Boeotian shield depicted in high relief at center, rendered in characteristic incuse style with the distinctive cutaway sides forming the traditional lunate openings on either side of the central boss. The shield device, emblematic of the Boeotian League, is presented facing, with a raised circular boss at center surrounded by a broad, gently curved rim. The field is plain and unlettered, the entire design framed by the irregular flan edge typical of early fourth-century Greek hammered coinage.
