| Reverse description | An amphora with volute handles depicted in the center of the field, rendered in fine incuse relief with a tall, elegant body tapering to a pointed foot and flanked by scrolled handles rising above the shoulder. A thyrsus or staff is visible across the neck of the vessel, referencing Dionysiac associations. The Greek magistrate's inscription ΘΕ-ΟΓ is divided on either side of the amphora in two-letter groups, identifying the issuing authority of Thebes. The composition is well-centered within the broad, slightly irregular flan. |
