| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two square incuse punches of unequal size impressed side by side into the reverse field, a larger punch to the left and a smaller one to the right, both deeply struck with irregular mill-like surfaces. The punches bear no figurative imagery or legend, serving purely as a technical hallmark of the striking process. The surrounding surface of the flan retains the characteristic irregular globular shape of hammered ancient coinage. This double-punch reverse is diagnostic of the Persian-period Lydian gold stater series struck at Sardes. |
