| Obverse description | Confronted foreparts of a lion and a bull facing one another in heraldic opposition, rendered in bold archaic relief characteristic of Lydian coinage. The lion, at left, displays an open jaws and a detailed mane, while the bull's head and shoulders are clearly articulated at right. Both animals occupy the full width of the flan, their bodies tapering toward the lower field. The design continues the celebrated Lydian artistic tradition inherited from the electrum coinage of the Croesid period. |

| Reverse description | Two square incuse punches of unequal size impressed side by side into the reverse field, a larger punch to the left and a smaller one to the right, both deeply struck with irregular mill-like surfaces. The punches bear no figurative imagery or legend, serving purely as a technical hallmark of the striking process. The surrounding surface of the flan retains the characteristic irregular globular shape of hammered ancient coinage. This double-punch reverse is diagnostic of the Persian-period Lydian gold stater series struck at Sardes. |
