Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Bosporan king Sauromates II facing right, rendered in the local Hellenistic-provincial style with elaborately detailed hair and drapery folds visible at the truncation. A club appears in the field before the bust on certain die varieties. The legend runs around the periphery in Greek characters. The design is contained within a beaded border.
