Reverse description Bare-headed and laureate bust of the Roman Emperor Hadrian facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and beard in the characteristic Hadrianic portrait style. The emperor is depicted in heroic or cuirassed fashion truncated at the shoulder. In the lower field, the Greek date letters ΛΥ (= year 430 of the Bosporan era, corresponding to 134 AD) appear prominently below the bust, serving as the sole legend on this face. The reverse reflects the close political relationship between the Bosporan Kingdom and Rome during the reign of Hadrian.
