| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of King Rhoemetalces facing right, the royal diadem clearly rendered across the brow. The effigy is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition with fine detail to the hair and drapery. The Greek legend ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ΡΟΙΜΗΤΑΛΚΟΥ curves around the field, identifying the ruler as king. On certain specimens, a Herculean club appears in the field before the bust as an additional royal symbol. |

| Reverse description | Laureate head of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in a naturalistic portrait style consistent with Roman imperial coinage of the period. The laurel wreath is depicted with characteristic detail across the brow. The Greek date letters ΔΜΥ appear in the lower field, denoting Bosporan regnal year 444, corresponding to 148 AD. A dotted border encircles the design. The composition reflects the dual authority acknowledged by the Bosporan kingdom — its own dynastic rule alongside Roman imperial suzerainty. |
