Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, her hair rendered in flowing loose strands secured by a single tie at the neckline and swept upward at the temple. She wears a triple-pendant earring and a necklace, with a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, the bowl adorned with a griffin leaping to the right. An owl, wings spread and facing forward, stands in the right field behind the head, with the letter alpha (Α) below the truncation.
