Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with finely detailed hair swept forward in characteristic Augustan style. The bust is lightly draped at the truncation. The field is plain, with no surrounding legend, reflecting the Bosporan royal coinage convention of honoring Rome without reproducing Latin titulature. The portrait is boldly modeled in high relief typical of hammered gold staters of the Bosporan kingdom.
