正面描述 Diademed head of Ptolemy I Soter facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with carefully detailed curling hair bound by a royal diadem. The portrait displays strong, idealized facial features with a prominent brow and well-defined jaw, characteristic of early Ptolemaic royal iconography. The neck is bare and the bust truncated at the shoulder. A dotted border encircles the coin's periphery, framing the portrait within the irregularly shaped flan.

附加信息

Struck in the decade following Ptolemy I's assumption of the royal title in 305 BC, this denomination reflects the Ptolemaic rejection of the Attic weight standard in favor of a lighter Phoenician-based system — a deliberate monetary policy designed to control trade within Egypt by making foreign coinage inconvenient. The 25-obol valuation is specific to that reformed reckoning.

Posthumous issues of this type continued under Ptolemy II, who used his father's image to assert dynastic continuity during the consolidation of his reign after 283 BC.
