| Descrizione del rovescio | A stag grazing to the left occupies the central field, rendered in fine Hellenistic style. To the upper left, a star and crescent symbol — the dynastic emblem of the Pontic royal house — flank the main device. Above, the Pontic regnal date CKΣ (Year 226, corresponding to 72 BC) is inscribed in Greek numerals, while the ΠAP monogram identifying the mint of Parium appears to the right. The letter A, denoting the first month of the Pontic calendar, is placed in the exergue. The entire composition is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath of ivy leaves and fruit, a characteristic decorative border of the Mithridatic gold stater series. |
