Obverse description Facing lion's scalp depicted in high relief, rendered with bold plasticity characteristic of Lycian dynastic coinage. The mane is rendered in stylized radiating striations encircling the broad, flattened face. The nostrils, brow, and muzzle are modeled with considerable naturalistic detail. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the period.
