Obverse description A lion, rendered in bold relief with finely detailed mane, attacks a bull from above and to the right, its forelegs gripping the bull's back in a predatory mauling pose. The bull, shown in profile to the right, collapses beneath the lion's weight, its hindquarters lowered. The group is set within a shallow concave field framed by a beaded border, characteristic of Lycian dynastic coinage of the fifth century BC. The composition conveys powerful naturalistic energy typical of the Xanthian workshop under the dynast Kuprilli.
