Kuprilli was among the earliest named Lycian dynasts to strike coinage, operating under loose Achaemenid suzerainty at a moment when Persian administrative reach into southwestern Anatolia was more nominal than enforceable. His issues are rare enough that the BMC entry for this type draws on a very small corpus of specimens, making die links between surviving examples relatively straightforward to trace. The weight standard follows the Lycian reduced stater norm rather than the heavier Aeginetic system used by contemporaries further west.
