Thông tin bổ sung

Kroisos introduced this coin as part of the world's first true bimetallic currency system — paired gold and electrum staters with a fixed exchange ratio against silver, an arrangement sophisticated enough that Greek city-states adopted the model wholesale. The Lydian economy under Kroisos was built on alluvial gold from the Paktolos River, and the shift from the earlier electrum coinage to pure refined gold and silver represented a deliberate policy of monetary standardization, not merely a metallurgical upgrade.

Cyrus the Great ended this mint's operation when Sardis fell in 546 BC. Persian authorities subsequently continued striking coins on the Kroiseid standard — a rare acknowledgment by a conquering power that the monetary infrastructure was worth preserving.
