Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Kotys II facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic tradition with flowing hair rendered in fine strands descending to the shoulder. The effigy is set within a dotted border, with the royal legend disposed around the periphery of the flan. The drapery is indicated at the truncation by incised folds, and the portrait exhibits the characteristically blended Greek-Barbarian artistic style of Bosporan royal coinage.

The bust is draped and cuirassed at the truncation, set within a dotted border. The Greek date monogram appears in the lower field below the portrait, serving as the regnal year numeral in the Bosporan dating system.
