| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with deeply engraved, flowing locks of hair swept back beneath a royal diadem. The effigy bears the horn of Ammon curling from above the ear, signifying Alexander's divine association with the Egyptian deity Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is executed with characteristic idealized naturalism, the facial features finely modelled with a prominent brow, straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The field is plain, with the portrait filling the flan in the bold, high-relief manner typical of posthumous Lysimachan coinage. |
