背面描述 Athena Nikephoros enthroned left, her figure rendered in flowing drapery with a crested Attic helmet on her head. Her left arm rests upon a large round shield decorated with a boss, while a long transverse spear leans diagonally in the background behind her. In her extended right hand she holds a Nike. A monogram appears in the inner left field, the civic ethnic ΒΥ (for Byzantion) is inscribed below the throne, and an ornate trident is placed in the exergue as a secondary civic symbol of Byzantion. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ runs along the upper and right periphery of the reverse field.

附加信息

Byzantion's posthumous gold staters in the name of Lysimachus — the Macedonian general who seized Thrace after Alexander's death — were struck well over a century after Lysimachus himself died at the Battle of Corupedium in 281 BC. By the mid-second century, invoking his name carried commercial rather than political weight: these issues circulated as trusted high-value currency precisely because the Lysimachean type had become a recognized gold standard across the Black Sea and Aegean trading networks.

Marinescu 393 places this emission firmly within Byzantion's independent civic coinage before the city fell under increasing Pergamene and later Roman pressure.
