| Beschrijving keerzijde | Nike, the goddess of victory, stands facing left in a graceful contrapposto posture, her drapery rendered in fine detail. In her extended right hand she holds a wreath, and in her left hand she carries a stylis (a naval standard or sternpost). Beneath her left wing, a torch is visible as a control symbol, while beneath her right wing appears a monogram serving as a mint or magistrate mark. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right of the figure, denoting the coin's issue in the name of Alexander. The composition closely follows the standard Alexandrine stater reverse type as catalogued under Price 2633 for the Sardis mint. |
