Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in fine high relief characteristic of the Alexandrine coinage tradition. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet with a prominent upward-curving crest, pushed back to reveal her finely modelled facial features, including a delicate eye and slightly parted lips. Flowing curls of hair emerge beneath the helmet bowl, cascading in carefully engraved ringlets along the neck and cheek. The ear is partially visible beneath the helmet rim, and a spiral cheek-piece decorates the side of the helmet. The portrait displays the refined Hellenistic artistic style associated with the royal Macedonian die-cutting workshops.
