| Beschrijving keerzijde | A symmetrical grapevine motif enclosed within a linear square border, depicting two heavily laden vine branches bearing large clusters of grapes and broad leaves, arranged around a central trunk — emblematic of Maroneia's celebrated wine production. A thyrsus (Dionysiac staff) is depicted to the left outside the square frame, and an amphora or similar vessel appears to the right, reinforcing the Dionysiac iconographic program. The magistrate's name ΕΠΙΚΛΕΣΙΟ is inscribed in Greek letters divided across the four sides of the enclosing square, reading ΕΠΙ above, ΙΚΕ to the right, ΣΙΟ below, and a vertical stroke to the left. The overall composition is deeply struck in incuse fashion, with fine engraving typical of the prolific Maroneian silver coinage of the fourth century BC. |
