Reverse description A grapevine laden with four prominent clusters of grapes is depicted growing from a central trunk, contained within a linear square border, reflecting Maroneia's celebrated wine production and its importance as a civic symbol. The vine issues two main branches, each bearing bunches of grapes rendered in careful relief with visible leaf details. Surrounding the central square, the magistrate's name legend ΕΠΙ ΙΚΕΣΙΟ is arranged in individual letters distributed around the four outer sides of the border. To the left of the square border, a thyrsus or vine staff is visible in the field. The composition is characteristic of the prolific civic coinage of Maroneia during the fourth century BC.
