Beschrijving keerzijde Reverse bears a highly schematized standing deity figure, likely a representation of Ardoksho or a related divine effigy derived from Kushano-Sasanian iconographic tradition, rendered in the crude, abbreviated style characteristic of late Kashmir copper staters. The figure appears in frontal stance with broad shoulders and simplified drapery indicated by shallow incised lines. Traces of what may be a Sharada or proto-Sharada legend are present along the upper field, though heavily worn and largely illegible. The overall execution reflects the severe stylistic degeneration typical of coinage attributed to the brief reign of Gopalavarma.

Aanvullende informatie

Gopalavarma's reign lasted roughly two years before he was deposed and blinded on the orders of his own queen, Sugandha, who then ruled as regent — one of the more dramatic successions recorded in the Rajatarangini, Kalhana's twelfth-century chronicle of Kashmiri kings. Coins attributable to his reign are accordingly scarce by duration alone.
