Obverse description The obverse displays the Boeotian shield in high relief, rendered with a smooth, convex boss at centre and characteristic curved cutouts at left and right forming the distinctive scalloped silhouette. The shield is set within a plain circular border, with the entire design occupying the full flan. The surfaces are well struck, with the boss exhibiting a polished, dome-like form typical of Theban stater coinage of the fourth century BC.
