Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The king's elaborate coiffure and flowing drapery are depicted with fine relief detail characteristic of Bosporan gold staters of this period. A dotted border frames the design. The legend ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ΕΥΠΑΤΟΡΟϹ ('of King Eupator') runs around the periphery in Greek characters. Occasionally a club appears in the field before the bust as an additional symbol.
