| 正面描述 | Goat or bull kneeling to the right in a strongly plastic, archaic style, the body rendered in bold relief with musculature suggested by rounded forms. The animal's head is turned, with prominent horns and a naturalistic eye visible. The design fills the broad, irregularly shaped flan characteristic of early Thraco-Macedonian coinage. No legend or inscription is present in the field. |

Ennea Hodoi — "Nine Roads" — was a strategically vital crossing point on the Strymon River in Thrace, later seized by Athens and refounded as Amphipolis in 437 BC. The attribution of coinage to this site remains genuinely contested; some scholars assign these staters to a loose federation of local Edonian or Bisaltic tribes rather than any single polis. The Asyut hoard connection places this type firmly in the early fifth century, consistent with the board's burial date around 475 BC following Persian disruption of regional trade networks.
