| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pomegranate depicted in high relief, rendered in archaic style with a rounded body and pronounced calyx with bifurcating stem at apex; two curving lateral branches or tendrils extend symmetrically from the base of the fruit, lending the composition a distinctive, almost heraldic quality. The pomegranate, the civic badge of Side, occupies the central field of the irregularly shaped flan, with no inscriptions or border ornament present. The surface bears the characteristic texture of an early fifth-century BC Greek silver coin struck by the hammered technique. |
