The face, visible in the right portion of the flan, retains a schematized eye, a prominent curved nose, and a defined chin, while the surrounding decorative elements dissolve the classical prototype into fluid, curvilinear abstraction. A stylized horse galloping to the right, rendered in the abstract La Tène Celtic manner typical of early Belgic gold staters. The horse's body is depicted with a sinuous, elongated torso and exaggerated, disjointed limbs reduced to curved and pellet-tipped appendages. Above the horse's back floats a large detached arc or wheel-segment, while the field is populated with scattered abstract symbols including pellets, crescents, lenticular forms, and branching or triskele-like ornaments derived from a degraded charioteer or chariot group. A six-pointed star or radiate device appears to the upper right of the field. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with no legend present. |
