| Obverse description | Facing bust of Ares (or a Macedonian warrior deity) wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with decorative side-plumes and a beaded torque at the neck, rendered in high relief in the Greco-Persian artistic tradition. The face is shown frontally with stylized hair flowing to either side beneath the helmet rim. A beaded border encircles the design. The portraiture reflects the transitional Cilician-Macedonian style characteristic of the early Balakros satrapal coinage. |
