| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with closely cropped hair and idealized features. The portrait is set within a plain circular border, occupying the full field of the flan with no surrounding legend. The facial details, including the brow, nose, and chin, are sharply struck and characteristic of early Bosporan gold coinage issued under Roman influence. The absence of a diadem or laurel wreath reflects the restrained portraiture conventions adopted for the Bosporan stater series of this period. |
