Obverse description Diademed head of Asander facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully detailed curling hair swept back from the temples and secured by a plain diadem. The portrait is naturalistic and individualized, with a strong jaw, straight nose, and slightly parted lips, conveying regal authority. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered Pontic gold staters of this period. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse.
