Reverse description Within a deep incuse square, a horse advancing to the right, rendered with naturalistic musculature and a flowing mane, its head slightly lowered and one foreleg raised in stride. The Greek magistrate's name APIΣTΩNAΞ is inscribed around the horse, divided across the field: APIΣ above, TΩN to the right, and AΞ to the left, with a small symbol also present in the left field. The incuse square border is well-defined, consistent with the archaic-to-classical coinage technique of Abdera. The overall composition is well-centered and characteristic of the civic coinage of this Thracian mint.
