Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, adorned with a prominent upswept crest and a coiled serpent at the bowl. The goddess's features are rendered in fine high relief with flowing locks of hair escaping from beneath the helmet and cascading along the neck. The finely modelled portrait exhibits the confident Hellenistic style characteristic of the Macedonian royal mint output, with delicate facial features and naturalistic detail. The field is plain gold, and no legend appears on the obverse.
