背面描述 Nike, the winged goddess of victory, stands facing left in three-quarter view, her large feathered wings spread prominently behind her. She holds a wreath in her outstretched right hand and a stylis (naval standard) in her left. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. To the left, two mint control symbols are visible: an ivy wreath above and a monogram within a square below, both serving as mint marks for the Magnesia ad Maeandrum issue.

附加信息

Struck at Magnesia ad Maeandrum during the final two years of Alexander's life, these issues funded the eastern campaigns directly — the mint was activated as the army moved through Asia Minor and required immediate liquidity for pay and provisioning. Price 1920 falls within a tightly dated group identified by specific symbol placement and die linkages that Marin Price catalogued in his 1991 corpus, the definitive reference for Alexandrine gold.

Alexander died in Babylon in June 323 BC before this mint's production fully wound down.
