Additional information

Price 802 falls within the posthumous Alexander stater series struck at Amphipolis, the most prolific mint of the entire Alexander coinage. These issues continued under Cassander after Alexander's death in 323 BC, a deliberate political choice — maintaining the conqueror's monetary identity projected legitimacy while Cassander consolidated control over Macedonia proper. The series ran so continuously that distinguishing lifetime from posthumous strikes requires close attention to subtle control mark variations.
