Obverse description Pegasus with outstretched, straight wings in full flight to right, rendered in bold relief with detailed feather work and scaled body. The winged horse is depicted with fore-legs extended and hind-legs tucked beneath, conveying dynamic motion. In the lower field beneath the body of Pegasus, the Greek letter Λ (lambda) appears as the city-letter of Leukas. The overall style is characteristic of the skilled die-engravers of the Akarnanian region in the fourth century BC.
