正面描述 Bare head of Hera facing right, her hair arranged in loose curls and bound with an ornamented stephanos decorated with floral or foliate motifs. The portrait is rendered in fine archaic-to-classical Greek style, with a graceful profile, almond-shaped eye, and delicate facial features characteristic of Elean coinage of the late 5th century BC. No legend or inscription appears in the field.

附加信息

The 92nd Olympiad fell in 412 BC, one year after the catastrophic Athenian defeat in Sicily — the single greatest military disaster in Athenian history. Olympia itself remained stubbornly independent through these upheavals, its sanctuary and mint functioning under Elean administration. These staters were almost certainly struck in connection with festival activity, as the sanctuary had no standing civic coinage program in the conventional sense; production was episodic and tied directly to the games and their associated religious treasury.

HGC 5, 347 distinguishes at least two die varieties for this Olympiad. The designation "Variety 2" reflects obverse or reverse die differentiation — survivorship across both is thin.
