Obverse description A cow stands in profile to the right, her head turned sharply back to the left to suckle a calf kneeling beneath her in a naturalistic pastoral composition. Above the central group, a kithara (lyre) is depicted in the field, flanked by the Greek letters Σ (sigma) and Ω (omega) on either side. The scene is rendered in the fluid, high-relief style characteristic of Korkyraean coinage of the fourth century BC. The figures occupy the full width of the flan, reflecting the skilled die-cutting traditions of this Adriatic colonial mint.
