Reverse description Plain reverse bearing a quadripartite incuse square divided into four recessed compartments by raised ridges forming a cruciform pattern, each quadrant exhibiting a rough, granular texture resulting from the punch strike. This deeply impressed mill-sail or windmill incuse is the characteristic reverse type of Kyzikene electrum staters throughout their long period of issue. The flan edges are irregular and rounded, consistent with hand-struck hammered coinage of the period. No legend or subsidiary device is present.
