Nagidos was among the earliest Cilician cities to strike silver coinage, its mint active during a period when the region operated under loose Achaemenid oversight that permitted substantial local monetary autonomy. The city itself sat at the mouth of the Nagidos river on the southwestern Cilician coast, and its staters circulated primarily within regional trade networks rather than reaching broad international distribution — which explains why surviving examples appear with some frequency in Cilician hoards but rarely elsewhere.
The Lederer corpus remains the foundational reference for this series, a 1910 study that has never been fully superseded.
