| Reverse description | Nike, the goddess of victory, standing facing with head turned to left, clad in a long belted chiton with fine drapery folds rendered in the early Classical style. She extends her right hand forward holding an open tainia (fillet or victory ribbon), while her left hand grasps a tall palm frond whose base rests on the ground to the right. The design is set within a deeply incised square (incuse), with the ethnic inscription A-Λ / I-E distributed in the four corners of the field, an abbreviation for ΑΛΙΕ (Elaeans). |
