| Obverse description | Eagle standing to right within a shallow incuse circle, with wings fully spread and head raised upward in a proud, alert posture. The bird is rendered with exceptional naturalistic detail, including carefully engraved feathering across the body, wings, and tail, and sharply articulated talons gripping the ground. The composition fills the flan dynamically, with the sweeping wing tips extending toward the periphery of the field. The style is characteristic of the high-quality die-cutting associated with the Achaean colony of Kroton during the late Classical period. |
